Sojourner Truth Lecture: Dr. Marilyn Mobley

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking lecture as Dr. Marilyn Sanders Mobley explores the narrative strategies and cultural politics of Toni Morrison’s work. While Morrison’s readers and critics often focus on the “what” of her writing, Dr. Mobley analyzes Morrison’s expressed narrative intention of providing “spaces for the reader” to help us understand the narrative strategies in her work.

Dr. Mobley’s approach is as interdisciplinary, intersectional, and nuanced as Morrison’s, blending textual analysis, cultural history, and political discourse to offer fresh insights into Morrison’s literary legacy.

This event is open to all students! Come enjoy a complimentary lunch (12pm-1:15pm) and engage in a compelling discussion on Morrison’s work and its relevance to today’s social and political landscape.
