Each year, the Women & Gender Studies and the African & African American Studies programs confer special honor with the Sojourner Truth faculty award. We are excited to announce that Dr. Carol Cleaveland, Dr. Deborah Kwak, and Dr. Stefan Wheelock are the 2025 Sojourner Truth Faculty Award recipients! We appreciate their remarkable work.

The Women and Gender Studies program is thrilled to announce that Professor Rachel Lewis has been honored with the Presidential Award for Faculty Excellence in Teaching!!! The prestigious award is a recognition of Dr. Lewis' inspiring and outstanding teaching record over several years within the program and the university.  Many congratulations, Rachel, for this well-deserved honor, and thank you for your exceptional contributions to WGST and to our students!

The WGST Lecture Series is hosted by Women and Gender Studies to highlight faculty that have engaged in profound work at the intersections of race and gender. Our Spring 2024 speaker was Dr. Stephanie Rambo.

The Women and Gender Studies Program is proud to present the award recipients recognized this past semester!  

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is proud to honor Abby Picard, BA Integrative Studies '04, with the 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award in Women and Gender Studies.  Picard is a macro social worker and sexual and domestic violence advocate with a background in crisis response, community outreach, program planning, and relationship and sexuality education.

INTS & WGST Instructional Faculty member, David Corwin (they/them) was awarded the Spirit of the King award last Tuesday. This award is given to one George Mason University Student or Staff Member whose work advocates for social justice, equality, and inclusivity at Mason.
