Speaker: Dr. Ewa P. Ziarek (SUNY Buffalo)
Title: A New Logic for Digital/Racial Capitalism: Challenges for Feminist Philosophy
Abstract: An intersectional analysis of digital capitalism, AI, and systemic racism is indispensable for understanding and resisting a new logic of capital accumulation, which produces new forms of power and deepens racial and gender inequalities. In order to sketch out this formation, I draw on the ‘algorithmic racism’ elaborated by critical race scholars, such as Noble, Benjamin, Milner, and Traub; on Fraser’s and Bhattacharyya’s notions of racial capitalism, as well as on a constellation of related concepts, such as data or surveillance capitalism.
