On Nov. 15th more than 220 girls from seventh through 12th grade from different areas in and around Virginia. Students from different programs at Mason, including Women and Gender Studies came together to help these young girls have positive role models and discuss their dreams and strengths, vulnerabilities and struggles during breakout sessions.
The program was put together by Patsy Mangas. a communication alumna and former television documentary producer. Students panelist including Casey Marion, Laura Freeman, Rodrigo Velasquez and Jasmaine Downes discussed the importance of higher education to the young participants and their parents.
