Women and Gender Studies Authors at Fall for the Book This Week

The annual Fall for the Book Festival kicks off this week in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and we are thrilled that Women and Gender Studies is well-represented.

On Wednesday, September 25, at 1:30PM in the Johnson Center, Sandy Spring Tent, our own Elizabeth Huergo will be discussing her novel The Death of Fidel Pérez.

The next day, September 26, from 1:30p to 2:45p, Women and Gender Studies Director Angela Hattery, along with Earl Smith, Director of the Wake Forest University American Ethnic Studies Program, will be discussing their new book, African American Families Today: Myths and Realities.

Later that same day, Emily Kane will discuss her latest book The Gender Trap: Parents and the Pitfalls of Raising Boys and Girls. Specifically, Kane will be exploring the gender lessons encoded in the selection of clothes, toys, activities as well as styles of play and emotional expression.

We encourage everyone to come to each of the readings and bring a friend!
