Women and Gender Studies Affiliate Faculty RicaRdo Vivancos Perez to be honored as an ally at the "Honoring Allies" reception, part of LGBTQ's Pride Week events.  Professor Vivancos Perez has contributed in many different ways as an ally, including through his scholarship and in his classroom.  As a scholar, his forthcoming book Radical Chicana Poetics is the first comprehensive book on Chicana lesbian/radical feminist writers, and the first written by a non-Chicano, straight man.  As a teacher, he has created courses with a very strong LGBTQ component. He promotes gender equality and encourage critical reflection on gender and sexuality every day in his classes. Also, he has organized and endorsed many co-curricular activities, including the art exhibition and the symposium around the work of Chicana lesbian artist Alma López, and Chicana lesbian author Alicia Gaspar de Alba, http://ncc.gmu.edu/events/3194.
