Meet our New Community Fellow - Kristina Angelevska

1) What made you want to work or continue working in Women and Gender Studies?

The concepts of gender, gender inequality, sexuality, racial inequalities as well as women's rights, human rights and LGBTQIA+ rights made me want to contribute and learn from the Women and Gender Studies Program.

2) What are you most passionate about in this area of study

I am mostly passionate about designing trainings and workshops for the students at the WGST. I would like to showcase things like women's empowerment, gender equalities, LGBTQIA+ and hidden identities through implementing the concept of a "human" library.

3) What do you hope to accomplish in your position here?

I'd like to gain a new set of skills and competencies and accomplish goals through implementing a program at WGST at GMU in collaboration with NGO's so that students will have the chance to attend trainings and workshops related to gender, sexuality and women's rights.

4) What excites you most about working here?

I am mostly excited about working, firstly because it is a university program through which I will have the chance to work with a group of young people and be perceived as a mentor in various areas.

5) How does working here contribute to your life/career goals?

Working at the Women and Gender Studies Center would significantly contribute to my life/career goals since I am looking forward to gaining more skills and knowledge in facilitating trainings and workshops and panel discussions related to all the issues around gender, women's empowerment, sexuality and sexual orientation acceptance.

6) What unique experience can you contribute to WGST?

I can contribute significantly to WGST with my mentoring skills and reaching out to NGO's that would beneficial for the students in the DC area academically and professional advancement. Besides those, I can contribute to the development of the program by designing trainings and workshops for the students.
