Dr. Earl Smith, WGST Adjunct Faculty member, will be presenting at the 2018 Institute of Cannabis Research Conference later this month. Dr. Smith is co-author of the book Policing Black Bodies: How Black Lives are Surveilled and How to Work for Change, along with WGST's own director, Dr. Angela Hattery. Dr. Smith's two conference presentations, both focused on racism and cannabis prosecution, are titled 'The Next Jim Crow: Reproducing Old Time Racism in New Cannabis Frontiers' and 'Policing the Black Body: Police Profiling of Blacks Looking for Marijuana (and Other) Illegal Drug Use'.
