Social Innovation and Enterprise Concentration



Students learn to address the social and environmental problems facing our society with an eye toward feasible and transformative solutions. They will also gain the perspectives and skills needed to start, build, transform, and/or fund the organizations that will implement these solutions.  Students graduating with this concentration will be able to work with others (both within and outside existing institutions) and to make the changes necessary to improve social and environmental conditions.

With advanced planning, students may be eligible for accelerated master's programs at Mason in the following areas:

  • Global Affairs (MA)
  • Public Administration (MPA)
  • Public Health (MPH)
  • Public Policy (MPP).


All students have opportunities to

  • conduct independent research
  • engage in globally-related activities through coursework and language study at Mason and abroad
  • participate in many forms of public service
  • prepare for their future careers through internships, career-focused minors and other college-to-career activities
