Section Information for Fall 2013
The media--television, advertising, the internet, pornography-- shapes the ways in which we define what women are supposed to look like, the jobs they are supposed to do, and the ways they are supposed to behave. If you're curious about the ways in which the media proscribes not only how women should look but how they are to behave this course is for you! Through interdisciplinary study students will evaluate the powerful effects these representations have on the political, economic, and social lives of women throughout the world. Satisfies General Education requirement for global understanding.
