ITAL 325 - DL1: Literature of the Black Death

During one of the largest pandemics in history - the Black Death - Giovanni Boccaccio wrote his epic work of prose, The Decameron (ca. 1349-1351). In this course, we will read the stories told by a group of young Florentines who have retreated to the countryside to isolate themselves from the perils of the plague. We will read and analyze these tales with this historical perspective, enjoying the consolation of literature during our own difficult times. This online course is taught in English and fulfills the Mason Core requirement in Literature.

ITAL 325-DL1 is a distance education section.
