Section Information for Fall 2020
Where does our food come from? How does globalization affect local food provisioning? How does global food system affect society and politics? Who benefits, who/what is harmed by our food systems? How can food be political? If you are curious about these questions and want to explore how to study food critically, this course is for you! In this course, we will apply interdisciplinary approaches to examine the global processes of production, distribution and consumption of food. We will also discover how new social movements try to interrupt global agri-food systems, and develop local, grassroots initiatives to mitigate food insecurity.
GLOA 400 DL2 is a distance education section that meets synchronously. Students should expect to be online on the days and times scheduled.
