The Center organizes a variety of lectures, conferences, workshops, and other public events. The Center has sponsored a wide range of guest speakers including scholars, filmmakers, poets, and community activists.
The Center maintains an active schedule of events throughout the academic year. Annual events include the Scholar's Lecture, the Sojourner Truth Lecture Series, the Gender Research Conference, the Feminist Art Show, The Vagina Monologues, Take Back the Night, Women's History Month, and Pride Week activities. The program has hosted such noted scholars and activists as Anita Hill, Patricia Hill Collins, Donna Brazile, and Ntozake Shange.
In addition to the annual events, the Center hosts brown bag events and workshops that showcase the scholarship of our students and faculty.
Our Center counts on co-sponsorship with other academic units and campus organizations for successful programming. African and African American Studies, LGBTQ Resources, Sexual Assault Services, and Student Involvement are consistent collaborators. Women and Gender Studies has collaborated with Fall for the Book to bring such noted authors and activists as Joy Harjo, Stacy Ann Chinn, Allison Bechdel, Jennifer Finney Boylan, and Merri Lisa Johnson.
