The Women's Coalition
The Women's Coalition is committed to educating Mason and the surrounding community about gender issues and issues of concern to women by organizing activities, lectures and workshops. It promotes a sense of community and safety for women while celebrating diversity, including cultural, biological and psychological differences.
The Coalition is a group on campus dedicated to promoting, discussing and educating the community about women's rights and issues. It meets once a week in the Women and Gender Studies Center where members collaborate on planning programs, discussing gender representations in popular culture, women's empowerment and current legal and social issues. The Coalition has worked with several departments to help plan and hold events during Turn off the Violence Week, Take Back the Night, Vagina Monologues, Body Image Awareness Week, Women's History Month and Healthy Relationship Week. It also maintains a steady presence in the communities through rallies, protests and activism while promoting women's rights.
The meetings are organized by a leadership team, and members are notified by email about weekly meetings throughout the semester. To join the Women's Coalition or to be informed of our next meeting, please contact womenscoalition@gmail.com.
