Goats at Mason

During Mason’s Earth Day celebration, Women and Gender Studies hosted four Nokesville goats from Arcadia Meadows Farm. The local farmer family -- Melanie Thatcher, Dave Keller and their daughter Marjorie – brought the goats to Mason’s North Plaza (outside the Johnson Center) to forge a local connection to the Center’s Goat Project, which benefits women in Uganda, and to raise awareness for the ongoing endeavor. Students enjoyed petting and playing with the goats and were clearly very excited to have them at school. The main objectives of the goats’ visit were to embody the local-global connection and raise awareness of self-sustainability locally and abroad.
