How did one man lose $50 billion?

Harry Markopolos is a former securities industry executive who rose to prominence as an early and unheeded whistle blower of the securities fraud committed by Bernie Madoff.

His lecture “Moments of Truth” at George Mason University on Oct. 15 is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by College of Humanities and Social Sciences' Interdisciplinary Curriculum Collaborative (ICC). The ICC includes the following academic units: Bachelor of Individualized Studies, Cultural Studies, the Higher Education Program, the Honors College, Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, New Century College, and Women and Gender Studies. These programs have identified the subject of ethics as a unifying theme, while recognizing that questions and issues of ethics permeate every academic discipline, major, and profession.

In this interview on "60 Minutes," Markopolos describes describes the warning signs that should have alerted others to suspect Bernie Madoff.
