Women and Gender Studies Hosts 3rd annual Fear2Freedom Event

Women and Gender Studies in collaboration with the LEAD office, with support from the Student Support and Advocacy Center and University Life, held its third annual Fear 2 Freedom Celebration Evening on Tuesday, September 20th, 2016.Fear 2 Freedom is a global non-profit dedicated to redeem and restore the lives of those affected by sexual assault, bringing them hope and healing. The goal is to raise awareness of sexual abuse, bring change through vigilance and healing through compassion. Fear 2 Freedom is in the business of “restoring joy” to those who have been sexually assaulted, encouraging them on their own journey from fear to freedom. This year, 400 students, faculty and staff gathered to assemble 350 kits for women, children and men that will stay locally at INOVA Fairfax and provide comfort for victims of sexual violence, intimate partner violence and for children entering the foster care system.  Additionally 50 kits will remain on campus in the Student Support and Advocacy Center for Mason students who seek support after experiencing sexual or intimate partner violence.  http://fear2freedom.onmason.com
